Day 100 (50) Big John

April 8th: Seven years ago to the day is the day I lost my dad, John. After a long battle with kidney cancer the day came that God called him home. It is funny that no matter how many years pass, I think I miss him more today than ever. As children we need our parents to provide food, shelter, clothing and lessons learned. However, I think as adults we need our parents more for friendship and knowledge. As an adult, I have come to understand why our parents did the things they did and how they did them. There is a respect and different kind of bond that is formed. I know there are very few days that go by that I don't think of him. I wish my boys could have gotten the chance to know him too. Miss you Dad. (Dad holding Hayden the day he was born with Zach by his side.)

This is simply a super post. I am so glad I visited today.

Ironically, today WOULD have been my parents 50th wedding anniversary if we had not lost Mom in 2003.

A tough day all around, and yet a day full of love remembered.

Have a glorious Easter!

Thanks guys for your wonderful comments. My dad was one of the greatest men I have ever known. I know this because he was my dad but also from so many people that speak of him with such great fondness. He is greatly missed everyday. His death has left a hole in my extended family that they have never recovered from. I pray one day they will. PS: Shallowbottom, you guys would have gotten along famously. He was one of the biggest high school sports fans I have ever known. You guys could have talked for hours.

Neecie: Wonderful thoughts on your Dad. There will be a huge hole in our hearts and family when my Dad goes on too.
Funny and neat that you saw my husband yesterday. Wish you guys were still out here in Shally. Hope you have a blessed day! Amy
